THE PUNK MARKETING MANIFESTO

Seven rules for marketers who have had enough

1. STOP POLISHING TURDS.

A rubbish proposition doesn't become a good one because you've given it a beautiful website, a clever tagline and a £10k campaign.

If nobody wants what you're selling, that's where the conversation starts.

Not with the colour of the bloody buttons.

2. MARKETING IS NOT YOUR ARTS AND CRAFTS DEPARTMENT.

We're not here to make things pretty, organise the Christmas party or churn out LinkedIn posts.

Real marketing is about understanding markets, customers, competition and what makes people buy.

It's commercial strategy. Treat it like one.

3. STOP DEMANDING LEADS WHEN YOU CAN'T SELL.

Marketing gets people interested. Sales has to do something with that interest.

And leadership needs to make sure there's something worth buying.

If everyone wants revenue but nobody wants responsibility, congratulations. You've invented the blame game.

4. AI WON'T FIX YOUR BULLSHIT. IT WILL SCALE IT.

Got a rubbish proposition? AI can send it to 10,000 people instead of 100.

Don't understand your customers? AI can help you misunderstand them at record speed.

Producing bland, meaningless content? Brilliant. Now you can produce a year's worth before lunch.

AI is an extraordinary tool. But it doesn't magically give you commercial judgement, customer understanding or something worth saying.

Think first. Automate second.

Otherwise, you're just industrialising the bullshit.

5. TRUST IS NOT A MARKETING DELIVERABLE.

You can't outsource your personality, automate a genuine relationship or expect your marketing team to be best mates with your prospects on your behalf.

In B2B tech, people buy expertise. And expertise belongs to actual human beings.

Show up. Have conversations. Earn trust.

6. STOP CALLING EVERYTHING GROWTH BECAUSE MARKETING ISN'T SEXY ENOUGH.

Apparently marketing is fluffy, but growth is serious.

Demand generation sounds clever. Revenue operations sounds important.

Fine. Call it whatever makes you feel better.

But changing the job title doesn't fix the strategy.

7. MARKETERS: GROW A BACKBONE.

This one's on us.

Stop saying yes to campaigns you know won't work.

Stop accepting lead targets when nobody can explain the proposition.

Stop confusing being busy with being effective.

And stop trying so hard to be liked that you forget to tell the truth.

PUNK MARKETING.

We don't hate marketing.

We hate what people have turned it into.

And we're done playing along.
